Rafael Nadal has admitted that he regrets publicly criticising Roger Federer over his role in the tennis world.
The world number two claimed that Federer should do more after disputes within the ATP over prize money and the tour schedule.
But Nadal quickly defused the situation after his Australian Open win over Alex Kuznetsov.
The Spaniard said: "Yesterday what I said, I said but I was probably wrong telling you because these things must stay in the locker room.
"I feel sorry for saying it because I should have said it to him personally."
Federer also booked his place in the second round of the Australian Open with a straight-sets win over Alexander Kudryavtsev.
