Bernard Tomic blasts "ridiculous" scheduling at Australian Open

Australia's Bernard Tomic says that some of the scheduling at this year's Australian Open has been "ridiculous".

Bernard Tomic has described the scheduling at the Australian Open as "ridiculous" after neither he nor compatriot Nick Kyrgios played their fourth-round matches on the Rod Laver Arena.

The Australian youngsters were both placed on the other show courts at Melbourne Park, with Tomic losing in straight sets to Tomas Berdych.

When asked about the organisers' decision not to put the Australians on the main court, the 22-year-old said: "I think the scheduling was like ridiculous this year. Like not just from my side, but for many players.

"I don't know who was in charge of the schedule. Really, some of the matches I saw, it was just like, wow. I didn't mind [missing out], but some of the other matches I saw I was like, 'What the hell?'

"I'm not going to complain from my side, but on behalf of the people I talked to, they say it as well. It's not just me saying it. You guys have seen, as well. If I would have run the schedule, I would have made it interesting."

Former champions Rafael Nadal and Maria Sharapova both played on Rod Laver Arena earlier today, while women's third seed Simona Halep and three-time finalist Andy Murray feature in the evening session.
