Jo-Wilfried Tsonga has insisted that he is moving in the right direction despite his loss to Roger Federer in the quarter-final of the Australian Open.
The Frenchman lost a five-set thriller on the Rod Laver Arena last night.
Tsonga has failed to reach the final of a Grand Dlam since he went down to Novak Djokovic in Melbourne in 2008.
However, he believes that he is a better player now than he was five years ago.
"I think I'm more solid [now than in 2008]," said Tsonga.
"Sometimes you play two weeks unbelievable and you don't know why. But it stays two weeks and, for a few months after that, you lose everything.
"Now I'm a better player for sure."
Tsonga has reached three Grand Slam semi-finals.
