Fernando Verdasco has insisted that he is strong shape physically after coming through a topsy-turvy battle against David Goffin earlier today at the Australian Open.
Goffin led by two sets to one in the first-round clash before Verdasco produced a rousing comeback to progress in five sets.
The Spaniard admitted on Twitter that he has been handed a tough section of the draw in Melbourne, with defending champion Novak Djokovic and Thomas Berdych lurking if he makes the later stages.
He tweeted: "I feel good and happy, physically good. It's a tough draw, but what else do you expect in a Grand Slam, always tough."
Verdasco also admitted in a Twitter takeover of the Australian Open's official account that he keeps his long hair in an effort to keep a youthful look.
