Liam Broady has moved two wins away from the Australian Open main draw after he defeated ninth seed Farrukh Dustov in the opening qualifying round.
The British number four, who is attempting to qualify for his first Grand Slam, came through 6-4 6-3 against the world number 120.
The 21-year-old sits 73 places below the Uzbekistan hitter in the ATP world rankings, but one break of serve was enough to see the left-hander move into a one-set advantage.
Broady saw a break point go astray early in the second before he struck in the sixth game to move closer to an impressive victory in Melbourne.
Despite missing two match points on Dustov's serve, Broady remained composed to serve out the match to love to set up a second-round showdown with up-and-coming American Jared Donaldson.
