Angelique Kerber has defeated Alison Riske 6-3 6-4 in the third round of the Australian Open.
The German wasted no time highlighting the gulf in class between the pair, landing a break in the opening game and again at 3-3 before wrapping up the opener.
American Riske posed more of a threat in the second set, finding herself 4-3 and a break to the good before Kerber turned on the style and clinched the remaining two games.
The ninth seed will take on Flavia Pennetta of Italy in round four.
