Jo-Wilfried Tsonga has triumphed 6-4 7-5 6-2 over Michael Llodra in the battle of the Frenchmen at the Australian Open.
The 27-year-old now faces Japan's Go Soeda, who ended Luke Saville's tournament, in the next round.
It was an evenly-matched contest for most of the first set, but it was Tsonga who made the crucial breakthrough to go 5-4 up before serving it out.
Tsonga's began to find his range in the second set, as Llodra struggled to cope with his compatriot's powerful hitting.
It was all over inside 30 minutes in the final set, as Tsonga strolled to a comprehensive victory.
