Caroline Wozniacki has progressed to the second round of the Australian Open after defeating Anastasia Rodionova 6-2 6-1.
The world number one, who was a major doubt for the tournament in Melbourne after suffering a wrist injury at the Sydney International, held her own against her Aussie opponent, with each game going on serve in the early stages of the opening set.
The 21-year-old eventually snatched her first break point, extending the lead four games to two and quashed any doubts over her fitness by claiming the first set 6-2.
Wozniacki continued her dominance over the 29-year-old and managed to close the match in straight sets, securing a spot in the second round of the competition.
The Danish pro will face Anna Tatishvili in her next match.
