Jelena Jankovic has reached the quarter-finals of the Cincinnati Open after defeating Karolina Pliskova in three sets.
The world number 25 broke her Czech opponent's serve twice in the opening set, requiring just 30 minutes to get herself in front.
Pliskova, however, recovered to take the second set after breaking Jankovic's serve at 3-2, and gave the veteran a scare by cruising into a 5-2 lead.
Nevertheless, the 30-year-old's experience proved crucial in helping her claw her way back into the contest and ultimately claim the set 7-5, which saw her win the match 6-2 3-6 7-5.
Jankovic will take on the winner of the game between Anna Schmiedlova against Varvara Lepchenko in the last eight.
