That's also the end from Sports Mole today. What a Sunday it's been in Paris. There have been yet more shocks and surprises, none more spectacular than Women's number one Victoria Azarenka exiting the tournament at the hands of Dominika Cibulkova. Tomorrow will see the conclusion of Tsonga versus Wawrinka and Del Potro versus Berdych, while Maria Sharapova, Andy Murray, Petra Kvitova and Rafael Nadal are also in action. Thanks again for joining us and we hope to see you from 10am on Monday. Au revoir!

And that's it. A Roland Garros official comes onto the court before a short discussion with the players ends with play being suspended due to bad light. Tsonga leads 4-2 in the fifth set after what was an extraordinary three hours and 47 minutes.

20.36: Wawrinka holds to make it 4-2.

20.33: How much longer will they be out there? It's getting gloomy in Paris...

20.30: Tsonga holds with a meaty ace that Wawrinka gets nowhere near. The Frenchman leads 4-1 and the players are still on court.

20.29: Wow. Tsonga takes it to deuce with a ferocious forehand down the line.

20.28: Can you believe it? Wawrinka now has a break point after his backhand falls just inside the line.

20.25: And he has the break! A great return from Tsonga sees Wawrinka get his lines wrong at the net. The Frenchman is now 3-1 up in the fifth.

20.23: Tsonga smacks a forehand into the corner and he now has a break point.

20.19: That's quite magical from Tsonga. A perfectly-judged drop shot means that he holds server to take a 2-1 lead in the fifth. No sign of play stopping yet...

20.17: That's it for Del Potro and Berdych tonight. With the Argentine two sets to one ahead, play is suspended due to bad light. Meanwhile, we're still going with Wawrinka and Tsonga...

20.15: That was a tough game for both players, but Wawrinka saves four break points to hold serve and make it 1-1 in the fifth.

20.14: SET! Del Potro regains the initiative in his match with Berdych by breaking the Czech to take the third 6-3. Those two are having a real battle out there.

20.08: It's now at deuce as he fires wide.

20.07: Tsonga has two breaks points here, but wastes one by hitting the net.

Interestingly enough, neither of these men have ever reached the quarter-finals at Roland Garros.

20.03: Tsonga up and running here in the fifth as a mighty forehand sees him hold the opening service game.

20.01: As expected, we now have doubts over whether these matches will be completed tonight. It certainly looks as if Del Potro and Berdych will have to continue tomorrow, but Tsonga and Wawrinka may well have an outcome this evening.

19.56: SET! We've got out fifth set. Tsonga scoops his shot long and Wawrinka takes the fourth 6-3.

19.55: In our other match, it's Del Potro who has the initiative against Berdych. With one set each to their names, The Argentine is 3-1 up in the third following a break.

19.49: Tsonga holds so Wawrinka will now try to serve out the set.

How cruel this game can be. For all of Stephens' hard work she is broken by the savvy Stosur who books her place in the quarter-finals. However, the American exits with her head held high after showing a lot of determination on court.

RESULT: Stephens 5-7 4-6 Stosur

19.43: Stephens is giving it her all out there against Stosur and finds another break! The American needs to hold to make it 5-5 in the second. Quite a display from the 19-year-old as she was 5-1 down.

19.42: But it's Wawrinka who manages to hold. He's now one game away from taking it to a fifth set.

19.41: The French crowd are now chanting Tsonga's name after he gets it to deuce. Oh, how they can change.

19.39: Stephens has won her last two games to make it 3-5 in the second against Stosur. The Aussie will serve again for the match.

19.36: Tsonga claims his second game in a row as Wawrinka hits the net. It's now 4-2 to the Swiss.

19.32: Tsonga's finally on the board in this set. Wawrinka lashes the ball nowhere near the court to make it 4-1.

19.31: Stosur breaks again versus Stephens and is now just a game away from the quarter-finals.

19.28: Oh dear. Tsonga puts a flimsy backhand into the net and Wawrinka has another break. The Roland Garros crowd groans in disappointment.

19.27: A superb backhand down the line gives Wawrinka a break point...

19.25: SET! It's now level between Berdych and Del Potro as the Czech takes the second set 6-1.

19.22: Wawrinka holds as Tsonga flashes a forehand long. Are we going to a fifth set?

19.21: Berdych has broken again to lead 5-1 against Del Potro in the second, while Stosur is also a break up in the second against Stephens.

19.20: Wawrinka breaks! Tsonga drags a woeful backhand into the net to give his opponent a 2-0 advantage in the fourth. The home favourite needs to find inspiration from somewhere quickly.

19.16: Tsonga hits a 40th unforced error and he doesn't look happy.

19.15: The Swiss is the dominant force now. He serves to love with a great range of shots to take a 1-0 lead.

19.13: Wawrinka will get us going in this fourth set...

19.11: SET! What a shame for Stephens. She had the first set for the taking there, but a double fault sees Stosur claim it 7-5.

19.10: Meanwhile, Berdych is a break up against Del Potro. The Czech leads 3-1.

19.09: SET! We have a contest on our hands now. Tsonga hits long to give Wawrinka the third set. Is it the start of a comeback from the Swiss? His injury woes of earlier look to be a distant thing of the past. He's in the ascendancy here.

19.07: Some poor play from Tsonga gives Wawrinka two set points.

19.05: Wawrinka holds, but it was close. Tsonga gets down low to scrape a shot over the net, but it floats inches wide. 5-3 to Wawrinka, Tsonga to serve.

19.01: Now then. Wawrinka has put a cat amongst the pigeons here as he breaks Tsonga to take a 4-3 lead in the third. We've got a game her now...

18.59: Oh, Sloane Stephens! She was serving for the first set against Sam Stosur, but the Aussie drew on all of her experience to break and level it at 5-5.

18.57: That's delightful from Wawrinka. The world number 21 plays a calm volley at the net to make it 3-3. He's not giving up on this one just yet.

18.53: A deft touch at the net gives Tsonga another hold to lead 3-2.

18.52: SET! Despite being 4-2 down in his first-set tie-break with Berdych, Del Potro turns it around to win 8-6. First blood to the Argentine.

18.48: Wawrinka does well to return that Tsonga serve, but unfortunately it goes long. The Frenchman is now 2-1 up in the third.

18.46: We have a breakthrough between Stephens and Stosur. The American finds a break of serve to lead the US Open champion 4-3 in the first.

18.44: Wawrinka levels the third set up with a hold of serve.

18.41: We're into a first-set tie-break between Del Potro and Berdych...

18.40: The world number five was pushed by Wawrinka there, but he manages to hold serve after his opponent whacks the ball into the net.

18.34: Tsonga will get us underway in this third set...

18.33: In this evening's other Men's match, Del Potro and Berdych is still with serve at 5-5. That one could go the distance...

18.31: SET! Wawrinka really put up a fight there, but he hits long and Tsonga has the second set. The Frenchman now leads 6-4 7-6[6].

18.30:Meanwhile, Sloane Stephens's match with Sam Stosur has just started. A sibilant contest if ever I heard one.

18.28: He then hits pretty much the same shot again! 6-6 now in the tie-break.

18.27: Tsonga squanders one of them spectacularly with a misjudged forehand down the line.

18.26: There's still some fight in Wawrinka, but he puts a forehand long to give Tsonga three set points.

18.24: A wonderful forehand from Tsonga puts him 5-2 up. Wawrinka looks to be struggling with his injury though.

18.23: It's now Wawrinka who looks to have lost it as a wild shot flies wide. 4-1 to Tsonga.

18.22: A wayward forehand gives Tsonga the lead, before a forehand into the net puts the Frenchman 3-1 up.

18.21: Wawrinka takes the first point but he hits long to make it 1-1.

18.19: Tsonga was in trouble there as Wawrinka had two set points, but a poor backhand from the Swiss takes the set to a tie-break.

18.14: Meanwhile, it's still with serve in the first set between Del Potro and Berdych, 3-3.

18.13: Tsonga slams the ball into the net to give Wawrinka the game. The Frenchman will now have to hold serve to stay in the set.

18.10: Wow. Wawrinka breaks Tsonga with a powerful volley at the net. Whatever problem he had seems to be having no effect on his game. It's now 5-5.

18.08: Tsonga hits the ball wide and Wawrinka has two break points...

18.05: Wawrinka is back up and ready to play. Tsonga to serve for a two-set lead.

18.04: It looks like we're going to have a little break here as Wawrinka is given some treatment from his trainer. It seems to be a leg problem of some sort. Meanwhile, Tsonga dons his tracksuit top and sips away at his drink.

18.03: And that's somer serve from Wawrinka. The Swiss finds the corner which means that Tsonga will serve for the second set.

18.02: That's brilliant. Tsonga unleashes a forehand down the line to make it 30-30 on Wawrinka's serve.

18.00: Thanks, Matt. These compliments get better and better. Tsonga gets himself another love servive game thanks to a stinging ace. The Frenchman leads 5-3 in the second.

Right, that's me for today. I can finally catch my breath. I will be handing you over to the elegant Jack Prescott for the remainder of today's action!

17.58: Tsonga breaks! The Frenchman looks well on course for a two-set lead. He leads 4-3 on serve in the second.

17.57: Del Potro staves off a break-point against Berdych to level it at 40-40. The Argentine is currently on a five-match losing streak against top-10 players.

17.55: Monster serve from Tsonga as he moves advantage ahead at 2-3 behind. Meanwhile, a powerful forehand levels it at 3-3.

17.53: We are just hearing that Stephens's match with Stosur has been switched to Court One.

17.52: Wawrinka just hasn't found his range with that usually so impressive one-handed backhand. It's been a strong, yet unspectacular, start from Tsonga.

17.50: The second set remains on serve as Wawrinka moves 3-2 ahead. It's just been so tight thus far.

17.50: Del Potro answers straight back with a hold of his own against Berdych. The pair are level at 1-1 in the opener.

17.48: Remember, we still have one women's match to conclude today - with Stephens taking on Stosur at around 6.45pm.

17.46: Wawrinka's backhand has just been ever so slightly off in this match thus far. There hasn't been too many winners for either player thus far. Tsonga holds to level it at 2-2.

17.44: Meanwhile, Berdych holds in the opening game against Del Potro.

17.44: A word from Dominika Cibulkova on Twitter: "Hello everyone. I am sooooo happy about my win against Vika Azarenka today :) It's unbelievable feeling to beat the No.1 player in the world at a Grand Slam. Thank you to each and everyone of you who were cheering for me and for all your support. You give me strength and motivation to the next tough matches. 17.34: The final men's match of day eight will soon get underway as Del Potro clashes with Berdych.

17.32: SET! Really smart set from Tsonga as he claims the opener 6-4. The Frenchman looks in some fine form.

17.30: He won't feel much better as he sits 30-0 down on the Tsonga serve.

17.30: Really nasty fall from Wawrinka as he tumbles on the clay. It didn't look too clever.

17.27: Tsonga breaks! The Frenchman will serve for the opening set in this match. It's been a really good start from the powerhouse.

17.26: Brilliant forehand from Tsonga as he releases a monster of a shot to take a 0-30 lead on the Wawrinka serve.

17.24: Scrap that - Tsonga does hold to level it at four each.

17.22: Tsonga passes up the chance to level it at 4-4 as he smashes the ball into the net. We sit at deuce and 4-3 Wawrinka.

17.20: No real thrills from either player thus far. It's all been ever so straight-forward. Wawrinka leads 3-4 15-15.

17.18: Wawrinka keeps the match on serve in the opening set by moving 4-3 ahead.

17.18: What a wonderfully spirited performance from Goffin despite his defeat to Federer. The Belgian claimed the opening set, but his Swiss opponent just had too much class in the latter stages of the match. The youngster is certainly one for the future. Well done that man.

Result: Federer 5-7 7-5 6-2 6-4 Goffin

17.16: Huge hitting from Tsonga as the Frenchman keeps the match on serve at 3-3.

17.14: Goffin holds his serve against Federer. However, the multiple champion will now serve for the match.

17.12: Wawrinka holds once more to move 3-2 ahead in the first. The Swiss has won two of his three titles on clay, in 2006 in Umag and in 2010 at Casablanca.

17.10: Tsonga does hold his serve, however, to level it at 2-2 in the opening set. This one is going to be tight.

17.08: Federer holds serve to move 5-3 ahead in the fourth. The Swiss is just a game away from the last eight.

17.00: Tsonga answers straight back with a hold of his own to level it at 1-1.

16.58: Wawrinka does hold to move 1-0 ahead. Meanwhile, Federer holds his serve to love to open up a 4-2 lead in the fourth set against Goffin.

16.47: We will be focusing our attention on the match between Wawrinka and Tsonga.

16.45: Meanwhile, Goffin does hold to register his first game of the fourth set.

16.43: I'm still trying to work out what actually went wrong for Djokovic today. The Serbian just did not look right.

16.40: Still Goffin cannot shake off the threat of Federer. We remain at deuce in the third game of the fourth set.

16.37: Suddenly it's all Federer against the inspired Belgian Goffin. The pair are locked at deuce in the third game of the fourth set.

16.35: More from Sunday Times tennis correspondent Barry Flatman: "In exactly a week's time, we will be watching the champion move into position. If Djokovic plays a couple more matches like this, and when the opposition gets tougher, he is not going to be the first man since Rod Laver to hold all four Grand Slam titles at the same time."

16.33: Federer is up an early break against Goffin. The Swiss looks well on course for a spot in the last eight.

16.31: Phew, we finally have a chance to grab our breath! Remember we still have two men's matches to come with Wawrinka vs. Tsonga and Del Potro taking on Berdych.

16.29: So there we have it. Djokovic survives an almighty scare to book his spot in the last eight of the French Open. The Serbian trailed two-sets-to-nil after an extremely lacklustre start. However, he rallied in the final stages to claim the victory by the skin of his teeth.

Result: Djokovic 4-6 6-7 6-3 7-5 6-3 Seppi

16.27: SET! Meanwhile, there is the third set for Federer as he takes it 6-2 against the spirited Goffin. The Swiss leads two-sets-to-one.

16.24: Federer has broken Goffin once more. The Swiss will serve for the third set.

16.23: Brilliant return from Djokovic as he levels it at 15-15. However, the Serbian fires long to give Seppi a 30-15 advantage.

16.23: Here we go then. Seppi will serve to remain in this match.

16.21: Djokovic holds! The Serbian is just one game away from victory. Meanwhile, Federer remains a break up on Goffin in the third.

16.19: Ah, Seppi passes up the chance to break back against Djokovic. The pair are locked at, you guessed it, deuce.

16.17: More from Sunday Times tennis correspondent Barry Flatman: "There has been no momentum for Djokovic. If anyone has had momentum in this match, it was Seppi in the first set."

16.15: Djokovic breaks! The Serbian moves 4-2 ahead in the fifth. Is that the moment it slips away for Seppi?

16.13: Danger signs for Seppi as Djokovic takes a 0-30 lead on the Italian's serve.

16.11: Meanwhile, Federer holds serve to move 3-1 ahead of Goffin in the third.

16.10: Djokovic hits just his fourth ace of the match to move 15-0 ahead at 2-2. He secures the game with a powerful forehand into the far corner.

16.08: Just as I say that - Federer breaks in the third to move 2-1 ahead. Meanwhile, Seppi stays with Djokovic at 2-2 in the fifth.

16.06: Meanwhile, it certainly was not supposed to be this hard for Federer. The Swiss is locked at one-set-all and one-game-all with Goffin.

16.04: Djokovic does hold, however, to move 2-1 ahead in the fifth. We remain on serve.

16.02: You would have been excused for thinking that Seppi might drift off quietly into the night. However, he continues to test the world number one.

16.00: Really strong hold from Seppi as he staves off another break-point to level it at 1-1 in the fifth after almost four hours of tennis.

15.58: Yet again we sit at deuce in the match between Djokovic and Seppi.

15.56: SET! Federer staves off a break-point against Goffin to take the second set 7-5.

15.46: SET! Djokovic levels it at two-sets-all after securing the fourth 7-5.

15.46: Federer holds to level it 5-5. Meanwhile, Djokovic has two set points.

15.44: Oh my word. Goffin is two points away from securing a two-set lead over Federer.

15.42: The Serbian holds his serve to move 6-5 ahead as new balls are called. Meanwhile, Goffin leads Federer one-set-to-nil and 4-5 in the second.

15.40: So much better from Djokovic as he moves 30-0 ahead with two solid defensive strokes.

15.38: Seppi holds serve to level this one at 5-5. It's just so delicately poised.

15.36: Seppi's record in five-set matches is won 10 and lost nine. This one looks to be heading all the way.

15.34: Djokovic holds serve to move 5-4 ahead in the fourth. Seppi must serve to stay in the set.

15.32: Djokovic fires wide as Seppi holds to level it at 4-4 in the fourth. Meanwhile, Federer vs. Goffin remains on serve at 3-4 in the second.

15.30: Just brilliant from Djokovic as he comes to the net to level it at 40-40 for what seems like the 1000th time.

15.28:... but he fires long and we sit at deuce once more.

15.28: Seppi with the chance to hold serve and level it at 4-4...

15.26: Djokovic holds his serve to move 3-4 ahead in the fourth.

15.24: It's Rafa Nadal's 26th birthday today. Could his birthday present be Djokovic and Federer both eliminated on the same day?

15.22: Massive hold for Seppi as he staves off four break-points to level it at 3-3 in the fourth.

15.20: Deuce six between Djokovic and Seppi.

15.18: Goffin holds once more against Federer to move 2-1 ahead in the second. 21-year-old Belgians who are ranked 109 in the world are not supposed to take one-set leads against 16-time major winners.

15.16: Meanwhile, Federer holds in his opening service game of the second set.

15.14: Djokovic and Seppi remain locked at deuce as we move past the three hour mark in the match.

15.04: Seppi breaks! Would you believe it. The match remains on serve at 2-3.

15.02: Hello, this wasn't in the script. Seppi leads 0-30 on the Djokovic serve.

15.00: Seppi looks to the sky for inspiration as he holds serve. However, the Italian trails 3-1 in the fourth.

14.58: Strong play from Seppi as he staves off two break-points to level it at deuce. Meanwhile, Federer and Goffin remain locked at 5-5.

14.56: It's just all Djokovic as this set begins to gather pace. He leads 15-30 on the Seppi serve.

14.54: Djokovic holds serve to move 3-0 ahead. He is beginning to look like the world number one again.

14.52: Meanwhile, Federer vs. Goffin remains on serve in the first thus far.

14.50: Djokovic breaks again to move 2-0 ahead in the fourth. I'm not sure that Seppi has anything less in this match.

14.48: More from Tim Henman's former coach David Felgate: "I don't think it was spectacular the way Djokovic got back in it and there is still no big reaction from him. He has been very, very passive all day. Surely, Djokovic has to play better tennis and be more penetrative on the shot. Conditions are still very tough out there."

14.46: It really has been an impressive start from Goffin as he holds his serve to love against Federer. The 21-year-old is bidding to become the first man to reach the last eight on his Grand Slam debut since Alex Radulescu at Wimbledon in 1996.

14.44: Perfect start to the fourth set for Djokovic as he holds to love. Meanwhile, Federer has levelled it at 3-3 with Goffin.

14.42: SET! Djokovic claims the third set 6-3 as we approach the two and a half hour mark. You would have to fancy the Serbian from here.

14.41: Beautiful from Seppi as he serves and volleys his way back onto 30-30.

14.39: It's been far from easy for Federer thus far in his match with Goffin. The former trails 2-3 on serve.

14.37: Suddenly you can just feel that this match could be turning. Djokovic holds to move 5-3 ahead in the third.

14.35: It's been a really bright start from Goffin against Federer. The Belgian leads 3-2 in the opener.

14.33: Wow. Djokovic is back in the lead after breaking Seppi. What a strange third set we have on our hands.

14.31: I don't think I have ever seen Djokovic hit the net as many times as he has today. It's an almost surreal atmosphere inside the famous court.

14.29: Oh my my my. Djokovic loses his serve to love as Seppi levels it at 3-3. Just incredible.

14.27: Djokovic breaks for the second time in this set. Can he kick on now? Meanwhile, Federer has levelled it up with Goffin.

14.25: Really bright start from Goffin who holds serve against Federer.

14.23: Djokovic holds to level it at 2-2 in the second. The Serbian just doesn't look right though.

14.21: Federer vs. Goffin is indeed underway. Surely that match can only go one way?

14.19: Over on Suzanne Lenglen Federer and Goffin are warming up ahead of their encounter.

14.17: Seppi holds to move 2-1 ahead in the third. Despite the fact that Djokovic remains two-sets down, you just get the feeling that somehow he will rescue this match.

14.15: Seppi breaks straight back against Djokovic to level it at 1-1 in the third.

14.15: Remember we still have three men's matches to play this afternoon. Federer takes on Goffin, while Wawrinka hosts Tsonga. The day's action will be completed by Del Potro and Berdych.

14.13: A word from former British number one Greg Rusedski on Twitter: "Seppi playing unbelievable against Djok, not much Djok can do at the moment. Djok will have to dig very deep to come thru."

14.11: Djokovic breaks early in the third to lead 1-0. Can the Serbian rescue this?

14.10: A word from Tim Henman's former coach David Felgate on the BBC: "Well, who would have thought this? It was been unforced errors from Djokovic that has caused the problems and now it is a long, long way back for him now."

14.08: The question that you would have to ask is where has Seppi been? He sits at number 25 in the world, but on this form he should be higher.

Djokovic needs a re-think if he is to recover from this and avoid a shock early exit.

13.06: Djokovic holds at the start of the second set to lead 1-0. However, it was far from convincing.

13.04: That really was an extremely strange opening set from Djokovic. He just does not look happy out there. Meanwhile, Azarenka has broken early in the second against Cibulkova.

12.30: Wow! I certainly did not see that coming. Seppi breaks Djokivic to move 2-3 behind the Serbian.

12.27: Seppi does hold serve, however, to move 3-1 behind.

12.26: Oh, just wonderful from Djokivic as he finds the line from an impossible angle. The Serbian simply had no right to make that shot after Seppi had found the far corner with a powerful forehand. That's the shot of the tournament for me.

12.24: Meanwhile, Azarenka and Cibulkova are exchanging a tough opening game with the pair locked at deuce.

12.22: Just too good from Djokovic in this match thus far. No threat from Seppi as the world number one extends his lead to 3-0 with a love service game.

12.04: Remember, Federer is also in action today against Goffin. Meanwhile, Wawrinka clashes with Tsonga and Del Potro takes on Berdych.

12.02: Both players are emerging onto the court ahead of their encounter. It's extremely difficult to make a case for Seppi this afternoon.

12.00: Djokovic and Seppi have met five times since 2008 - with the Serbian winning each encounter. Not great reading for the Italian.

11.56: On the women's side of the draw, we still have two matches left to play. Azarenka takes on Cibulkova. Meanwhile, Stephens clashes with Stosur.

10.52: Just like that, Errani saves two break points to level it at deuce in the opening game. You just get the feeling that Kuznetsova needs to break the Italian here.

10.50: Suddenly it's all Kuznetsova at the beginning of the second set. Oh, how times can change.

10.48: Meanwhile, Kerber vs. Martic remains on serve thus far with the former leading 4-3.

10.44: Quite incredibly every game thus far between Kerber and Martic has been locked at deuce. The former leads 3-2.

10.42: It's just all going Errani's way in this opening set. The Italian serves up a wonderful ace to move 30-0 ahead. Before, two errors from Kuznetsova hands her opponent a 5-0 lead.

10.40: Best rally of the match as Errani breaks at the third time of asking. The Italian leads 4-0 in the opener. I did not see this coming that is for certain.
