Daniil Medvedev doubtful for French Open due to hernia operation

:Headline: Daniil Medvedev doubtful for French Open due to hernia operation:
Daniil Medvedev emerges as a doubt for this year's French Open after revealing that he will be out for one to two months due to a hernia operation.

World number two Daniil Medvedev is at risk of missing the upcoming French Open ahead of a hernia operation.

The Russian reached the quarter-finals of the Miami Open last month but went down in straight sets 7-6 6-3 to Poland's Hubert Hurkacz at the Masters 1000 event.

Defeat in the last eight saw Medvedev miss his latest opportunity to knock Novak Djokovic off the top of the world rankings, and the 26-year-old has now revealed that he could be out of action until June ahead of his operation.

"Hi everyone. The last months I have been playing with a small hernia. Together with my team I have decided to have a small procedure done to fix the problem," Medvedev posted on social media.

" I will likely be out for the next 1-2 months and will work hard to be back on court soon. Thanks for all the support."

Medvedev reached the quarter-finals of the French Open in 2021 before bowing out to runner-up Stefanos Tsitsipas, with this year's edition set to begin on May 22.
