Petra Kvitova has revealed that she was suffering from nerves during her French Open quarter-final victory over Yaroslava Shvedova on Wednesday.
The world number four came from a set down to reach the last four of the tournament for the first time in her career.
"I expected it to be tough match and it was actually," said the Wimbledon champion. "[Shvedova] started well and I was very nervous from the beginning.
"The first set I made easy mistakes. Then I knew that I had to change my game and I have to be the aggressive one and going for the points. The games were very close. I'm happy that I won the big points. I couldn't give up."
Kvitova's win has set up a semi-final meeting with Maria Sharapova on Thursday.
