Spain's Nicolas Almagro advanced through to the last 16 of the French Open courtesy of a 6-4 6-1 6-2 success over Leonardo Mayer this afternoon.
Argentinian Mayer provided Almagro with a stern test during the opening set as the encounter looked to be heading for a breaker.
However, Almagro claimed a late break of Mayer's serve to take a one-set lead.
That loss appeared to trouble Mayer, who struggled to hold his service game for the remainder of the encounter.
Almagro took full advantage by winning the remaining two sets by dropping just three games.
