Great Britain's Aljaz Bedene has lost in the opening round of the French Open to Austria's Dominic Thiem.
Bedene got off to a slow start, finding himself 1-5 down before Thiem closed out the opening set 6-3 with minimal fuss.
World number 31 Thiem seized control of the second with two early breaks, allowing him to tighten his grip on the match by clinching it 6-4.
Despite calling for the medic to treat a wrist injury, Bedene fought back in the third. Having forced a tie-break by saving two break points, the Brit then saved two match points on his way to winning the breaker 7-6[6].
However, his resurgence was short-lived as Thiem needed a single break before sealing his progress 6-3 6-4 6-7[6] 6-3 in the fourth.
