Novak Djokovic's quest for a first French Open title continued this afternoon, resulting in a 6-1 6-4 6-2 victory over Jeremy Chardy in the second round of the competition.
The Serbian took control of the contest early on with a string of forehand winners, which helped him to take the first set by a five-game margin.
Home favourite Chardy provided more resistance during the second set, but a break midway through the set proved to be decisive as world number two Djokovic extended his advantage.
The third set ended up being as comfortable as the first one for Djokovic, who broke Chardy twice to wrap up the victory in just one hour and 33 minutes.
The 2012 Roland Garros finalist will now take on either Marin Cilic or Tobias Kamke in the third round.
