Novak Djokovic has progressed through to the quarter-finals of the French Open courtesy of a straight-sets win over Fernando Verdasco.
The 2016 champion sailed through with a 6-3 6-4 6-2 victory at Roland Garros to reach the last-eight stage for a 12th time, setting an Open-era record.
Djokovic, seeded 20th for the second Grand Slam of the year, held serve throughout the opening set and broke his opponent in the fourth game.
Having eased in front, the Serb - who has dropped just one set all tournament - allowed Verdasco to make it 3-3.
Verdasco was unable to capitalise, though, and it was Djokovic who took the all-important next game to eventually take the set 6-4.
The final set proved to be straightforward, earning breaks in the first and fifth games to pave the way for a meeting with Marco Cecchinato in the next round.
