David Ferrer beats Feliciano Lopez 6-1 7-5 6-4 to advance to the French Open fourth round.

Fourth seed David Ferrer is comfortably into the fourth round at the French Open after a straight-sets victory over Feliciano Lopez.

Ferrer came through the all-Spanish affair 6-1 7-5 6-4 and will face either Kevin Anderson or Milos Raonic for a place in the last eight.

The world number five made light work of Lopez in the opening set, finding his timing on both sides early on to dominate the majority of the rallies.

In the second set Lopez came back well and had chances to level the match. Ferrer had too much though, and a tremendous forehand on break point got him out of trouble.

The third set saw Ferrer up his work rate even further, scurrying from side to side to make his opponent play at least one more shot, a tactic that paid off as Lopez's unforced error count increased.

Lopez won his final service game, and even took the final game to deuce, but in the end Ferrer came through, becoming the first man into the fourth round.
