Simona Halep has comfortably navigated her way past Evgeniya Rodina to book a place in the second round of the French Open.
The third seed secured a 7-5 6-4 straight-sets win in Paris and required just one hour and 16 minutes to get the job done.
Despite losing serve on two occasions in the opening set, as well as squandering four break points, Halep managed to get the better of Rodina to grab an early foothold.
World number 91 Rodina pushed her opponent all the way in the second set, levelling things up at 3-3 at one stage, but once again Halep pulled away by winning two breaks of serve to progress through.
