The number 13 seed Juan Monaco has reached the third round of the French Open following a tough 7-6 6-0 7-6[4] victory over Lukas Rosol.
The first set proved to be a tough encounter for the pair as both competitors were successful in holding their serve and equally executing damaging forehand shots across the clay court.
The contest was so tight that a tie-break was needed to decide the first set, which the Argentina pro managed to edge 7-4.
While Rosol held his own in the first set, the Czech pro crumbled in the second, which allowed Monaco to stamp his authority with some floating forehand shots and powerful returns to snatch a two-set lead.
Rosol tried to overcome his slump in the third and managed to push Monaco to another tie-break but the Argentinian remained composed and grabbed a 7-4 victory, which launched him into the third round.
