Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova has eased into the fourth round at the French Open, thrashing Irina-Camelia Begu 6-3 6-2 after less than an hour on court this morning.
Despite struggling with her own serve at the start of the first set, Kvitova's power soon had the 30th seed on the back foot, allowing the Czech to race to a 4-1 lead.
Begu fought hard to hold serve and keep herself in the set, but she was unable to test the fourth seed on the return, leaving Kvitova to quickly wrap up the opening set.
The Romanian made a strong start to the second, keeping it on serve to open up a 2-1 lead, but Kvitova quickly upped the intensity, winning five games in a row to progress to the fourth round.
Kvitova, who has only been beyond the fourth round once at Roland Garros, will face either Timea Bacsinszky or Madison Keys for a spot in the last eight.
