Maria Sharapova produced a perfect display to beat Alexandra Cadantu and advance into the second round of the French Open this morning.
The three-time Grand Slam champion didn't drop a single game as she stormed to a 6-0 6-0 straight-sets victory.
Sharapova survived two break points in the fifth game of the opener, but was otherwise rarely tested by her Romanian opponent as she wrapped up the first set in just 23 minutes.
It was a similar story in the second set as the Russian reeled off a further six consecutive games to secure victory in under an hour and display her title credentials.
Sharapova was a semi-finalist in the 2011 tournament, where she lost to eventual winner Li Na.
