Serena Williams has booked her place in the quarter-finals of the French Open with a routine victory over Elina Svitolina.
The rain delays in Paris meant that the defending champion was forced to wait to get her last-16 clash underway, but she required just 62 minutes to continue her path toward another appearance in the final.
Williams dominated from start to finish as she dropped just seven points on serve and broke on three occasions to quickly wrap up the opening set, and it was a similar story in the second.
Svitolina saw seven break-point opportunities come and go but she struggled to win games behind her own delivery and it allowed Williams to quickly wrap up a 6-1 6-1 win.
Williams will now play the winner of the match between Carla Suarez Navarro and Yulia Putintseva.
