Fernando Verdasco has prevailed over Gilles Muller to reach the third round of the French Open in Paris in four sets.
There was not much to separate the two players in a tight first set, which went the way of Muller courtesy of a tie-break.
The Luxembourg pro played above his capabilities to take the lead against the Spaniard, who is at home on the dirt.
Verdasco's superiority told in the second set and he began to dominate the match as Muller's influence waned.
The Spaniard levelled the match with a 6-3 triumph, before taking the next two sets 6-2.
The world number 19 will now face Italian Andreas Seppi in the next round.
