World number two Novak Djokovic has expressed his pride over beating Roger Federer in the final of the Indian Wells Masters today.
The Serbian recovered from a set down to beat the 17-time Grand Slam champion and seal his third Paribas Open title in the process.
Djokovic took the deciding set to a tiebreak by leveling up at six games apiece before emerging as 7-3 winner in the finale, and the 26-year-old says that he is proud of the achievement.
"It was a proud achievement. It was not just winning the trophy but the way I came back from a set down in a couple of matches. That gives me a lot of confidence," he told reporters.
"I said after my semi-final that very few points will decide the final and I was right."
The event was the 33rd time that the pair had clashed in major tournaments, with the Swiss holding a slender 17-16 lead.
