Roger Federer has earned a spot in the semi-finals of the BNP Paribas Open by beating Kevin Anderson 7-5 6-1 at Indian Wells.
The seventh seed applied plenty of pressure on Anderson for most of the opening set but the South African displayed impressive qualities to save four break points.
However, Federer managed to steal the crucial advantage late in the opener to achieve a 7-5 success in a tight first set.
The former world number one stepped up his game in the second set and broke Anderson twice to take full control of the contest.
Anderson was unable to handle Federer, who needed just 23 minutes to take the second set and confirm his spot in the final four of the tournament.
