James Ward has moved one win away from the main draw of the Indian Wells Masters after recording a three-set victory over Mitchell Krueger.
The British number two took to court in California just over 48 hours after helping Great Britain to Davis Cup success over USA in Glasgow, and it appeared as though the 27-year-old was suffering from the quick turnaround after easily losing the first set.
However, after saving five break points during the second, Ward took the match to a decider before edging through the final set to register a 2-6 6-3 7-6 triumph.
Ward will now play Germany's Mischa Zverev, who has previously reached number 45 in the world rankings, for a place in the first round.
