David Ferrer has brushed aside Guillermo Garcia-Lopez 6-1 6-3 to set up an Italian Open quarter-final meeting against David Goffin.
The seventh seed stormed ahead in the opener thanks to two breaks of serve and, despite blowing one set point, he was able to see the job through to take a strong hold on the contest.
Garcia-Lopez broke his opponent's serve early on in the second set, but Ferrer rallied to take five games in a row and comfortably seal his passage through to the next round.
Final-eight opponent Goffin was due to take on Andy Murray this afternoon, but the British number one withdrew from the tournament due to fatigue.
