Carla Suarez Navarro has reached the Italian Open final after recording a three-set victory over world number two Simona Halep.
The 10th seed dropped the opening set before storming back to see off Halep by a 2-6 6-3 7-5 scoreline.
Suarez Navarro had won all four meetings between the two players on clay, but she appeared on course for a heavy defeat when dropping serve three times on the way to losing the opening set.
A break of serve at the start of the second left Halep in full control of the contest, but Suarez Navarro soon began to find her range to break the Romanian on three occasions to level the match.
The decider saw eight breaks of serve in the first 10 games, but Suarez Navarro ended the match the stronger of the two as she struck on Halep's serve for the ninth time in the match to seal a place in Sunday's final.
