World number one Rafael Nadal cruised past Andreas Seppi 6-1 6-3 to reach the quarter-finals of the Monte Carlo Masters on Thursday afternoon.
The Spaniard started very strongly and broke his opponent to 15 at the first time of asking, before holding comfortably to consolidate it.
He then managed a second break, which was this time much harder fought, but by the time he consolidated it Seppi was down 4-0 with very few answers to the Spaniard on serve or otherwise.
Nadal wrapped up the first 6-1 before, after holding serve, getting straight back into the Seppi serve to break him, with the Italian at this point having held just once.
The second set then went with serve until the seventh, when Nadal was broken for the first time, but he battled back straight away to wrap up the second 6-3 and book his place in the quarters.
