Rafael Nadal won his eighth consecutive Monte Carlo Masters title by defeating world number one Novak Djokovic this afternoon.
The Spaniard controlled the encounter from the outset, claiming an early break in the opening set before going on to record a 6-3 success.
Djokovic struggled to respond in the second set and surrendered his serve during the first game as Nadal opened up a 3-0 advantage.
Despite holding his next service game, Djokovic was unable to prevent Nadal from going on to wrap up the title 6-3 6-1.
