Jo-Wilfried Tsonga has battled into the third round of the Monte Carlo Masters with a three-set victory against Philipp Kohlschreiber.
The French world number 12 came through the opening set 6-4 before Germany's Kohlschreiber responded dominantly by taking the second 6-1.
However, 2013 semi-finalist Tsonga was able to close out the contest 6-4 in the deciding set to seal his place in the next round.
His next opponent will be either Roberto Bautista-Agut or 10th seed Fabio Fognini.
