Andreas Seppi has reached the second round of the Monte Carlo Masters thanks to a straight-sets win over Russia's Mikhail Youzhny.
Both players exchanged breaks midway through the opening set before the Italian world number 35 broke again to close it out 6-3.
Youzhny then squandered three set points in the second as Seppi hung around to force a tie-break, which he went on to win 7-4.
Seppi will now face Spain's Pablo Andujar for a place in the third round of the tournament.
