Stanislas Wawrinka booked his spot in round three of the Monte Carlo Masters with a 6-1 6-1 victory over Albert Montanes on Wednesday.
The Swiss took charge of the first set in the early stages when he broke Montanes's second service game before moving into a 4-1 lead. Another break followed for Wawrinka before he served out of the opening set in style.
The second set followed a similar pattern as the Swiss broke Montanes in his opening service match before serving his way into a 2-0 lead.
The Spaniard did hold his next service game, but Wawrinka demonstrated some of his best tennis of the year as he secured two successive breaks to claim the second set 6-1.
