Former British number one Emma Raducanu will make her highly-anticipated comeback from injury in January's ASB Classic in Auckland.

The 2021 US Open champion has not played on the WTA Tour since April's Stuttgart Open, where she lost her opening tie 6-2 6-1 to Jelena Ostapenko before going under the knife.

Raducanu needed surgery on one of her ankles and both wrists to treat carpal bosses - a condition where bone grows too close to the joint - although it was hoped that she may return to action towards the end of the calendar year.

However, the 21-year-old ended up skipping the remainder of the 2023 season to focus on her recovery, which saw her drop to 296 in the world rankings, but she has been awarded a wildcard for the Auckland tournament.

Raducanu played just 10 matches on the WTA Tour in 2023, and her ankle problems began at the ASB Classic, where she retired from her second-round clash with Viktoria Hruncakova after rolling her ankle.

Raducanu lashed out at the ASB Classic organisers over the playing surface after being forced to pull out, but she recovered in time to make the Australian Open, where she was beaten in round two by Coco Gauff.

The Briton's best result in 2023 was a last-16 appearance at the Indian Wells Masters, where she won three matches on the trot before bowing out to Iga Swiatek, but she has been without a full-time coach since parting ways with Sebastian Sachs in June. body check tags ::
