US Open champion Emma Raducanu has announced her withdrawal from the Kremlin Cup in Moscow later this month.
The 18-year-old returned to the court for the first time since her Grand Slam triumph at the Indian Wells Masters, during which she was granted a wildcard entry into the second round to face Belarus' Aliaksandra Sasnovich.
However, Raducanu suffered a swift 6-2 6-4 defeat to Sasnovich and has now confirmed that she will play no part in the upcoming tournament in Russia, which begins next Monday.
"I look forward to returning to the Tour in the next couple of weeks. Unfortunately I've had to make a tournament schedule change and won't be able to play Moscow this year but I hope to compete there and in front of the Russian fans next year," Raducanu said in quotes attributed to BBC Sport.
The Brit - who has risen to 22nd in the world singles rankings - is still expected to feature in the Transylvania Open in Romania later this month before competing at the Linz Open in Austria in November. body check tags ::
