Former world number one Ana Ivanovic believes that she can regain her place at the top of the rankings.
The Serb has fallen to 18th in the rankings since winning the 2008 French Open after suffering from injuries and a loss of form.
"The girls who are at the top at the moment are playing very aggressively and that's the way you have to play to win," said the 24-year-old. "It is a big challenge for us to raise ourselves to their level.
"It's still a long way to go to the top where I want to be, but I'm enjoying the process.
"That's why I'm here. If I didn't think [I could be number one] I probably wouldn't be sitting here."
Ivanovic will play either Petra Martic or Petra Cetkovska in the second round of the Qatar Total Open after beating Carla Suarez-Navarro in her first-round encounter.
