Andy Murray has admitted that his target is to hit top form just before the first two Grand Slams of the year.
The British number one has been inconsistent since returning from a back injury in the winter, but he claims that steady improvement will be key as he prepares to defend his Wimbledon title this summer.
"I've played some good stuff, some bad stuff, but hasn't been consistent," Murray told reporters. "Some days I've felt good and then the next day not so.
"Played okay at the Australian Open, Acapulco, Miami and the next six weeks will tell me where I'm at. The aim at the start of the year was to get back fit and healthy and I'd like to be playing my best tennis by the French and then Wimbledon."
Murray faces Marcel Granollers in the Italian Open on Wednesday.
