Andy Murray: 'Amelie Mauresmo comments not true'

Andy Murray insists Amelie Mauresmo's claims that the pair ended their working relationship due to his on-court behaviour are "not true".

Andy Murray has insisted that Amelie Mauresmo's comments as to why the pair ended their working relationship are "not true".

Murray split with his coach of two years after the Madrid Open earlier this month, and last week Mauresmo claimed that the Scot's on-court behaviour was the reason behind the decision.

However, Murray has moved to dispel those claims, insisting that it was a calm and mutual decision to part company.

"I've supposedly been 'hitting back' at Amelie's comments, disagreeing with everything she said and that we had a really tough break-up. Simply it is not true. When we sat down in Madrid, anyone who says it was heated is lying and was not there. It was far from heated," he told reporters.

"We spoke very calmly the whole time. To say the reason we stopped working together is because of my behaviour on the court is not true.

"When we were working together we discussed many things on the court and there were times when, like with all of my coaches, she said 'you need to concentrate on the match and stop directing your frustration at your box and being distracted from what's going on on the court'. But to say that is why we stopped working together is untrue."

Meanwhile, Murray needed to come from two sets down to beat Radek Stepanek in the first round of the French Open today.
