Rafael Nadal insists that he is in good shape after overcoming a wrist injury.

Rafael Nadal has insisted that he is in good shape after recovering from a persistent wrist injury ahead of next week's China Open.

The Spaniard, who has been sidelined since Wimbledon, said that he intends to put the problem behind him when he takes on Richard Gasquet in the first round of the competition.

"I feel much better, I am in good shape. I am trying to forget the wrist," BBC Sport quotes the 28-year-old as saying. "Every time when I come back after an injury I have an extra motivation."

He added: "I just feel the wrist a little bit when I am starting, when I start to play every day, but then it disappears."

Nadal's last competitive match was the surprise defeat to Australian Nick Kyrgios in the fourth round of Wimbledon.
