Ruthless Emma Raducanu through to Korea Open semi-finals

British number one Emma Raducanu confidently dispatches Magda Linette 6-2 6-2 to advance to the semi-finals of the Korea Open.

British number one Emma Raducanu produced one of her finest performances of the year to beat Magda Linette in straight sets in the quarter-finals of the Korea Open.

The 19-year-old had not dropped a set before meeting the Polish third seed, and she demonstrated a particularly ruthless streak to win 6-2 6-2 in one hour and 17 minutes.

Quick starts have been the theme for Raducanu so far in the WTA 250 tournament, and the former US Open champion stormed into a 4-0 lead against Linette before the third seed held to love to get on the board.

Despite growing into the match and appearing more confident on serve towards the end of the set, Linette had no answer to the ferocity of Raducanu's cross-court backhand, with a lengthy rally going the way of the Brit on set point.

Linette's fortunes had ostensibly changed when she won the first seven points of the second set, but she then lost the next seven - squandering three break points in the process and being broken herself.

The 30-year-old then took a medical timeout, but Raducanu's momentum was not affected, as she demonstrated an array of shots with magnificent accuracy and power to win the next three games and go 5-1 up in the second set.

Linette held with an ace to force Raducanu to serve out the match, and the British sixth seed brought up three match points with another stunning cross-court backhand before seeing out a comfortable win.

Raducanu will now meet first seed Jelena Ostapenko in the semi-finals as she bids to reach just her second final on the WTA Tour.

Elsewhere for GB, there was also success for Dan Evans at the San Diego Open, as the 32-year-old defeated Japan's Taro Daniel 6-4 6-4 to set up a quarter-final battle with France's Constant Lestienne.
