Novak Djokovic will compete for his seventh Paris Masters crown against Denmark's Holger Rune following the pair's semi-final victories on Saturday.

Danish teenager Rune was first up against Canada's Felix Auger-Aliassime and took just one hour and 27 minutes to seal a 6-4 6-2 victory and advance to the showpiece event.

Auger-Aliassime came through a nervy opening service game before he was broken by Rune in the third, with a double fault handing the 19-year-old two opportunities to gain an early advantage.

Rune missed one break point before an unforced error from the Canadian handed him a 2-1 lead, and he held with aplomb for the remainder of the first set.

The unforced errors would not cease for Auger-Aliassime, who found himself 40-0 down on serve in the first game of the second set and was broken straight off the bat.

Following a mammoth third game in which he missed three more chances to break, Rune took his fourth such opportunity to move 3-0 up before a love hold brought him ever closer to the final.

Auger-Aliassime finally got on the board in the second set with a love hold of his own, but Rune remained untroubled for the remainder of the match as he advanced to his first ATP Masters 1000 final.

Following the Danish teenager's success, reigning champion Djokovic played out a three-set thriller with Stefanos Tsitsipas and took two hours and 19 minutes to prevail 6-2 3-6 7-6[4].

A contest of serving excellence brought up just one double fault between the pair in the entire match, and there were three successive love holds to start a semi-final classic.

In the sixth game of the first set, Djokovic kicked up a gear to break for a 4-2 lead, and he earned the double break not long after to wrap up the first set in just over half an hour.

However, a couple of unforced errors allowed Tsitsipas to earn the first break of the second set, and the Greek followed that up with three successive aces before holding for his own 4-2 lead.

Just like Djokovic did in the first set, Tsitsipas claimed the double break in the final game to level the match at 1-1, and missed opportunities characterised the deciding third set.

Djokovic squandered two break points in game three before doing the exact same in the ninth, as Tsitsipas held firm to force a tie-break but was ultimately sent packing.

The 35-year-old - who is now ranked seventh in the world - will be out to win his 91st ATP Tour title when he faces Rune in the final. body check tags ::
