Tomas Berdych has reached the third round of the Paris Masters with a straight-sets win over Andreas Seppi.
The Czech broke in the second game of the opening set to go 2-0 up, but Seppi hit back immediately for 2-1 as his opponent's serve began to falter.
Both players looked evenly matched for the remainder of the set and it went to a tie-break. Berdych raced into a 3-0 lead in the breaker, only for Seppi to claw it back to 3-3.
The Czech squandered a set point at 6-5, but soon wrapped it up, putting the Italian into a difficult position and forcing a decisive error.
Berdych was dominant in the second set, breaking as early as the first game and cruising into a 4-0 lead.
Seppi offered some resistance, fighting back to 5-2, before the world number six served out the match to book his place in round three.
