Novak Djokovic has battled through the second set to claim a 6-3 7-5 victory over Gilles Simon in the third round of the Paris Masters.
The world's top-ranked player suffered a wobble early in the first set when Simon broke serve to take a 2-1 lead.
The Frenchman's lead did not last long, though, as Djokovic immediately broke back before snatching serve once more.
After taking a one-set lead, neither player managed to hold serve in the first seven games of the second set.
Djokovic brought the game back to normality by holding to take a 5-3 lead in the set, but he could not seal match point as Simon broke again.
In a rollercoaster second set, the 10-time Grand Slam champion managed to claim his fifth break before wrapping up the match.
The Serbian will play either Jo-Wilfried Tsonga or Tomas Berdych in the next round.
