World number two Novak Djokovic has eased into the third round of the Paris Masters with a 7-6[3] 6-3 victory over unseeded Frenchman Pierre-Hugues Herbert.
The seven-time Grand Slam champion needed a tie-break to claim the first set against an opponent who is currently number 222 in the world rankings.
The Serbian had to save two set points in the 12th game of the opener, but eventually went on to move ahead in the match by dominating the tie-break.
Djokovic took this momentum into the second set, breaking Herbert at the first two opportunities as he established a 5-0 lead courtesy of some powerful back-court strokes.
Herbert pulled a couple of games back, saving two match points and breaking Djokovic in the process, but eventually succumbed to the second seed in an hour and 34 minutes.
