Andy Murray is edging closer to qualifying for the ATP World Tour Finals in London after securing a 6-3 6-4 victory over Julien Benneteau in the second round of the Paris Masters.
The Scotsman, who has been competing for six straight weeks, can seal his place at the O2 Arena in the UK capital just by reaching the quarter-finals of the tournament in France.
This afternoon, Murray raced to a 2-0 lead in the opening set by grabbing the first break of serve, which was all that was needed for him to scoop a one-set lead within 30 minutes.
Murray continued dominating the contest by going a break up instantly in the second set and doubled his efforts to take a 4-1 lead, but Benneteau battled to a break of his own after the British number one saved an initial three break points.
Despite the brief wobble, Murray was able to see out the set for victory.
