Stanislas Wawrinka has reached the quarter-finals of the Paris Masters after defeating Serb Viktor Troicki in straight sets on Thursday.
The 2015 French Open champion needed just one hour and 19 minutes to overcome his opponent 6-4 7-5, despite several lapses in concentration that saw Troicki clinch a number of games in both sets.
In the first set Wawrinka raced into a 4-1 lead before being pegged back to 4-4, but ultimately saw the set out, while the second set saw him come back from 4-2 down to win 7-5 and secure victory.
Wawrinka will play the winner of the match between Kevin Anderson and Rafael Nadal in the last eight of the tournament.
