John Isner won the battle of the big servers at Queen's Club this evening, knocking out eighth-seed Feliciano Lopez in three sets to reach the quarter-finals of the Aegon Championships.
There wasn't a single break of serve all match long, but Isner came out on top in the third tie-break set to advance to the last eight.
The American claimed the opener 7-5 in a breaker and then had two match points in the second set. He couldn't take them, though, and Lopez held his nerve to snatch a dramatic second set 11-9.
In the third, Isner could have wrapped up the match before a tie-break with break points in the 10th game, but Lopez denied him to force yet another tie-break.
Isner was the dominant player and came through 7-4 to set up a last-eight meeting with either Marin Cilic or Victor Troicki.
