Angelique Kerber wins the Aegon Classic in Birmingham, seeing off Karolina Pliskova in three sets.

German Angelique Kerber has won the Aegon Classic in Birmingham.

She beat Czech Karolina Pliskova 6-7 6-3 7-6 to claim her third title of the year.

"This gives me a lot of confidence," Kerber told BBC Sport.

"My goal coming to Birmingham was to get a lot of matches, and now I had my fifth of the week, so it couldn't be better preparation before Wimbledon.

"I'll just enjoy the day today, and we'll see what comes next."

Kerber reached the Wimbledon semi-finals in 2012.
