Tomas Berdych has booked his spot in the third round of the Madrid Open following a 6-7 6-3 6-2 victory over Jerzy Janowicz on Wednesday.
The Czech took control of the opening set at 1-2 as he broke before serving his way into a 4-1 lead. However, Janowicz secured a break of his own before eventually taking the tie-break 7-3 after an hour of tennis.
The second set was more straightforward for Berdych, however, as he secured successive breaks in the latter stages to level the match at one set all.
It was the same story in the deciding set as the Czech continued to dominate from the baseline, breaking at 2-3 and then 2-5 to book his spot in the next round.
