Tomas Berdych has sealed a place in the Madrid Open quarter-finals by securing a 3-6 6-3 6-2 victory over Grigor Dimitrov.
It was a tight affair between the two competitors in the early stages of the first set, but it was Dimitrov who grabbed a vital break of serve to take a 3-1 lead.
Despite coming close, Berdych was unable to get a break of his own and relinquished the opening set, but fought back in the second.
He needed just one break to move on top and draw level on sets, and it was a simpler task in the third set as Dimitrov failed to regain the composure he showed in the first set to clinch the decider.
